Sit & Tell Closing Reception

Don’t miss the culmination of a citywide design action to strengthen the unity between community members by sharing stories, generating new works of art and design, and giving attention to the shared impact of powerful women in our lives.

For one day only, the entire Sit&Tell collection of 100 chairs will be on display. Please join us in celebrating the stories, storytellers, artists and the chairs!

AIGA Toledo and MTS Seating along with The Arts Commission proudly present the final exhibition of The Sit&Tell Project, a multi-participatory community project that utilizes the metaphor of a chair as an invitation for friendship and communication. The Sit&Tell Project collected 100 stories as told by Toledo citizens as storytellers on World Storytelling Day, March 20, 2016 under the global theme of Strong Women. These stories were shared by many who benefited from strong women in their lives. After the storytelling event, the collection of audio stories were given to a juried pool of graphic designers, painters, illustrators and photographers to visualize artwork for the 100 chairs provided by MTS Seating. These artful chairs include a specially numbered URL to easily access the audio story, the art and an artist statement.
