Sit & Tell: Calling All Storytellers

Calling All Storytellers

Who is a storyteller? YOU! Any age and any level of experience is welcome and encouraged. As the driving force for the entire sit and tell project, community members are invited to take part and share stories of the strong women in their lives. Taking place on World Storytelling Day, March 20th, 2016 with a global theme of Strong Women, we invite one and all to come with tales, stories, poems, raps, short and long to share with our community. Our teams will record your story and your words will become the seed of an incredible creative adventure spanning our city.

Visual Artists have already applied for phase two of Sit & Tell. Professional designers serving as jurors will select the best visual art submissions and create our team. From there, we will take your stories of strong women in your life and community and use them as the basis for a piece of original visual art.

Artists will interpret your words and together the strong women in your life will take on a new form through this journey. In partnership with our incredible partners, MTS Seating, your story transformed into a piece of visual art will then be professionally applied to one of 100 high-quality chairs with state of the art printing technology. They will be bold, colorful, and beautiful high-quality prints permanently applied to the chair. Take a look at an example of the print quality here. These chairs will serve as a metaphor for our community, sharing the commonalities we have amongst all the neighborhoods in our city and the ways in which we are one through shared experiences. The collection will then be showcased in each nieghborhood of Toledo before finding it’s final home!

Do not miss this opportunity to take part in a city wide adventure! All we need are your words! Can’t wait to meet you all.
