Half & Half Summer Show

The annual AIGA Toledo summer show returns! Building off last year’s successful Hand-Lettered Exhibition, we challenge participants to create a piece that is one part “of the hand” and one part digital media (the best of both worlds, if you will.)

Designers will react to the theme “Half & Half”, creating a piece that is one part digital media and one part traditional media (drawing, painting, printmaking, etc.) The show will be on display from August 13th to September 7th in the University of Toledo CVA Gallery at the Toledo Museum of Art. The exhibit will conclude with a closing reception on September 7th from 6-8pm.

Deadline

Initial submissions are due by June 29th 2012.
The initial submission deadline has been extended to July 6th 2012.

Submissions

Please provide either an image of your completed piece(s), or a sketch and brief description of your proposed idea. Also, be sure to include a brief explanation about the size, mediums, and any installation requirements.

Along with your submission, we are kindly asking you to include two samples of your previously completed work, or a link to your online portfolio.

Entrants will be notified by July 6th if their submission has been accepted. Additionally, artists will have the remainder of July to finish any incomplete pieces.

Collaborations will be accepted. Only one online submission form needs to be filled out per piece. Please note who you will be collaborating with in the comments field. You may also add an additional link to a secondary portfolio in this section.

Bring your finished piece(s) to Communica (9am-5pm) by August 3rd.

Please contact us at halfandhalf@toledo.aiga.org if you cannot make this deadline, or to arrange an alternate drop-off time.

Submission fee

FREE for AIGA members.
*$15.00 per submission for non-members.

(*Fee(s) will be collected when final art work is dropped off for display. Submissions that are not accepted into the show will not incur the fee.)

Size

Works may be as small or large as you would like, but please ask us prior to submission should your piece possess epic size. Keep in mind your work will be viewed in a gallery setting.

Medium

Can be, but is not limited to: Drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, canvas, installations, photography, fiber arts…etc. Other mediums are welcome, but please contact us if you think your medium could raise any issues. (Remember submissions must be part digital media and part traditional media.)
