THE ARTS COMMISSION BUS WRAP

As an AIGA Toledo member, The Arts Commission and AIGA Toledo invite you to submit your ideas to wrap this bus! Visit AIGA Toledo for information on an AIGA membership.

For the pilot year of this program (May 2015 – May 2016) The Arts Commission is seeking work from local graphic designers through a partnership with AIGA Toledo that will adorn the buses to be used during the program. The designs will constitute a full ‘bus wrap,’ with design taking place within the parameters of a template that will be provided. For the first year of this program, one bus will be wrapped. The bus wrap will have a life span of approximately three years.

An RFQ for this project has been issued as of July 1, 2015. Designers who are interested in this project should submit their portfolio to aigatoledo@gmail.com for consideration. Selected designers will be notified accordingly. One $1,000 honorarium will be awarded to the chosen artist after completion of the final design in October.

BUS LOOP DETAILS
In 2015, The Arts Commission will present a new program to the community that is designed to make a significant impact on how Toledoans and tourists experience arts and culture throughout Downtown Toledo and its connected neighborhoods. The 3rd Thursday Art Loop will be a standard monthly bus loop taking place on the 3rd Thursday of each month (beginning May 21) year-round. Bus ‘loops’ for the event will be made possible through a partnership with the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) and will feature roughly 14 stops at major Downtown-area cultural centers and institutions, including Toledo Museum of Art, The Valentine Theatre, Toledo-Lucas County Public Library Main Library, Toledo School for the Arts, the Collingwood Arts Center, and others. In between stops, individual venues will be populated with local art, performance, music, and cultural offerings. The purpose of this program is to provide a monthly event to highlight local art, artists, and cultural offerings in Toledo, familiarize event guests with use of public transit and walkability of the downtown area, and to begin to create connectivity between Downtown and its individual connected neighborhoods, including UpTown, the Old West End, the Historic South End, and East Toledo.
